He was the son of a merchant Kalman Poznanski and Malka of Gdanskich, from Kowal in Kujawy. In 1834 the Poznanskich family moved from Aleksandrow to Lodz, here finished elementary school and so called progimnazjum. Future multimillionaire learned his future profession from scratch. As a teenager he gathered the material riding rickety old cart, pulled by a horse. In the future, reluctant rich man claimed that he had no horse and cart was harnessed by dogs. At seventeen he married Leoni Hertz, Hertz, daughter of Moses, a wealthy merchant in Warsaw. In his biography, you can clearly see the transformation initially was known as a ruthless employer ,who didn't take care of the safety of workers. In the factories were many fatal accidents, he was also responsible for the disability of many laborers. But at the end of his life unexpectedly engaged in charitable activities, build orphanages, schools and hospitals for the poor.
Poznanski had four sons: Ignatius, Herman, Charles and Maurice, and two daughters: Anna (Ajdlę), wife of Jacob Hertz, and Joanna Natalia, wife of Sigismund Lewinski.
In December 1852, the Board took over from his father's mercantile family.

October 29, 1889 the company, like other companies lodz cotton is converted into a public limited company. The official name of the plant is "Cotton Products Joint-Stock Association IKPoznańskiego in Łódź"
