The Arena hall to be found in Jan Kasprowicz's park in Poznań was built between 1972 and 1974 according to the design by Jerzy Turzeniecki. Its shape (upside down saucer) resembles the Rome's Palace of Sports erected in 1958.
Roof of the dome is covered with golden dyed sheet aluminium.
The hall seats 4200 people in the stands and further 3000 seats can be added on the floor. Arena is adapted to host sport events, concerts, performances and showings. Beneath the stand are bars, cafes, dressing rooms, sauna, warm-up room and sanitary base. The hall is easily approachable by the disabled.
Since couple of years Arena hosts volleyball's World League events. In 2009 the hall will also be one of the places to host the best basketball teams taking part in European championships.
