Ludwik Grohman born on 28th of August 1826 in Warsaw (Died 1st of February 1889 in Łódź}
His father Traugott Grohmann had his manufactory in Zgierz from 1827,.After the birth of Ludwik, founder of the family Grohmans settled with his family in 1844 in Lodz, earlier in 1842, took over in a perpetual lease proprety Lanus located on Ksiezy Mlyn. Cotton factory was built there.
Ludwik, where growing up involved in the activities of his father and after his death in 1874. became the director and transformed plants in the "Ludwik Grohman" company.
Was married to Paulina Adelina, daughter of merchant Charles Trenklera, what strengthened his financial position.
In the years 1861 - 1869 was a city councilor.
In 1880-82 he built a magnificent villa at Tylna Street.
Thanks to polonization Ludwik began to write the name Grohman (one n at the end). Grohman gained fame as the founder of the first Fire Brigade in the factory, and co-founder of Lodz Volunteer Fire Department in the years 1876-1888, he served as president and commander of all the Lodz Volunteer Fire Department.
He was an opponent of the January 1863 Uprising .
He was a co-founder of the Commercial Bank in Lodz (1872) on, longtime chairman of the board, co-founder of the Credit Society m. Lodz (1872) since 1881, the president.
He died in 1889 leaving a daughter and five sons. At the time of his death, his children were prepared to seize power and to guide the development of plants. Henryk Grohman took over the business after his father's death. Ludwik Grohman family tomb is located in the Old Cemetery in Lodz next Scheibler's Chapel.
