Czocha Castle was built at the Silesian-Lusatian borderland in the years 1241-1247, at the command of Bohemian king Wenceslaus I Premyslid. In the year 1319 it was incorporated in the duchy of Henry I of Jawor. After his death in 1346, the castle was took over by Bolko II the Small, duke of Świdnica and Jawor. After the death of duchess Agnes, Bolko's dowager, it became a property of the Bohemian crown.
Since the year 1453, for 250 years Czocha Castle was owned by the von Nostitz family; in 1525 and 1611 they converted it according to renaissance canons. During the Thirty Years' War it was unsuccessfully besieged by the Swedes.
In 1909, the castle was bought by Dresden cigar producer Ernst Gutschow, who commissioned stronghold's conversion to a well-known Berlin architect, Bodo Ebhardt. During Second World War the castle comprehended the school of Abwehr coders.
Currently the castle comprehends hotel and conference centre.
